Methods in Hanging Things in Stucco Walls
Depending on what you are hanging, the method for hanging it on stucco wall decorations may vary. To attach outdoor adhesive-backed hooks for string lights, experts use this example to demonstrate how to accomplish it. But, you can modify these methods to better fit your requirements by following these simple methods below.
Choose Your Hooks
Take the time to determine which adhesive-backed hooks from the retailer will best suit your needs before selecting any. The hooks should have an outside rating and be able to stick to materials like brick, concrete, and stucco. Additionally, anything you decide to hang on the hooks must be able to sustain its weight. Even though string lights will be sustained by several hooks, be careful not to get a hook that is too fragile.
Clean the Surface
The surface has to be properly cleaned before using glue to create a solid bond. With a stiff brush, remove any loose dust and debris, then scrub the area with a mixture of degreasing dish soap and water. Rinse off with water. While washing the stucco, look for any holes and fill them with exterior-grade silicone caulk to keep water from penetrating the stucco’s outer layer.
Rub the Surface With Alcohol
Use rubbing alcohol to clean the area when it has dried. Any leftover oil will be eliminated by the alcohol, improving the adhesive’s ability to bind. Before continuing, let the area completely dry.
Install Hooks
Installing your adhesive-backed hooks should be done following the manufacturer’s directions for optimal results. Only try to install them after the surface is totally dry to enhance the chance of a solid bond: keep the glue firmly on the stucco for 10 to 20 seconds before letting go.
Hang Lights
The string lights may be hung up once the adhesive-backed hooks have had enough time to stick. Before putting pressure on joints, always refer to the manufacturer’s recommendations for the adhesive set times.
